My Mom is obsessed with clouds in the sky. In a short drive she will comment over and over. Is it normal during this process they get obsessed with certain things?

The famous singer/song-writer Joni Mitchell wrote a song in which she describes clouds as “ice-cream castles in the air.” Perhaps you can keep this lovely image in your mind the next time your mother comments on the clouds.

Your mom’s behavior is common. My own mother Dorothy became interested in street signs, reading each sign aloud as we would take a drive.

I would celebrate your mom’s creativity. Perhaps you can have some fun and do some research on clouds to talk with her about (e.g. types of clouds).

Suddenly I’m in the mood for meringue cookies!

My husband talks about the contrails in the sky. He seems to be fascinated by them.

My mother became obsessed with the tide. We live close to the ocean, I think it was her attempt to be normal and make conversation---I found it very endearing
