Mom gets confused when she is tired
Answered by David Troxel
My mom has moderate Alzheimer’s. Just recently I have noticed that when she is very tired, she becomes more confused and when she talks she is off the wall. After a good night’s rest she is back to her old self. Is this common?
You should see me when I’m sleep deprived!
I think you’ve answered your own question, but I’ll add this reflection. A person with memory loss has to work a lot harder to get through the day. She may not know what’s happening around her—this can cause added stress. I think people like your mom are more easily exhausted and less resilient than the rest of us.
Figure out ways to assure that she gets adequate rest; hopefully then she will be less “off the wall” and have a better quality of life.
