  • “I’m here for you, Dad. We will get through this together. The nice, hot shower will be over before you know it.”

  • “Dad, I know you’re frustrated that you can’t remember the date today. This must be hard for you.”

  • “I am sorry that I upset you,” or “I didn’t mean to upset you; I was just trying to help.”

  • “Hey, I’ve gotten pretty good at making the bed. Let me help you out.”

  • “I can see you are uncomfortable in that sweater. Let me get you a different one.”
