Quick Tips to Handle Anger

  • Stay calm.

  • Try to figure out what’s triggering the anger—is there something specific?

  • Speak in a calm and reassuring voice. If possible, redirect the person to something else.

  • Give space, about 5 feet, until they calm down.

  • If you feel your safety is threatened, leave the area and come back in a couple of minutes, just make sure that your loved one is also safe!
