People with dementia get suspicious when they are losing their memory. They think they are being left out of things or that family members are talking about them.

Here are a few tips:

  • Try not to prove your loved one wrong—it just adds to the problem.

  • Sometimes it’s best to take blame and change the subject.

  • Apologize and shift attention to something else.
