Loved One with Alzheimer's is Very Agitated When I Leave the Room

  • Is it possible to get your loved one involved in something that distracts them—a television show, or anything that can hold their attention for a few minutes?

  • Also, as difficult as this may be, if your leaving the room is too upsetting for him or her, you might want to consider if there is a way for you to have your loved one right with you in the other room if possible.

  • I know you also need a break from constant contact, but if he or she becomes distraught, this may be the easiest solution for both of you. Finally, is it possible for you to go about your separate activities when your Mom is asleep so you don’t have to worry about this?
