  • In any occurrence react calmly, don’t argue or try to reason or deny the experience.

  • Enter your loved one’s reality.

  • Understand triggers for delusions.

  • Be sure to have vision and hearing checked regularly.

  • Check the environment for inadequate lighting, shadows, reflections and glare.

  • Take a step back and consider that certain medication could cause your loved one’s taste buds to change.

  • Help your loved one stay connected to the areas in their life that they knew and loved—it could minimize delusions.

  • If your loved one needs to move to a care community, take along pictures, furnishings, plants, etc that can help them feel at home and avoid confusion and delusions.
