  • Make a path in the home where it is safe and comfortable to wander or pace.

  • Simplify the environment.

  • Remove items that could be difficult to see and de-clutter the main living spaces.

  • Install barriers and fences in the yard.

  • Create inviting areas.

  • If your loved one is determined to leave, try not to confront them.

  • Redirect your loved one in a household activity.

  • Carve out 20 minutes a day for regular exercise to minimize restlessness.

  • A change of scenery may help.

  • When your loved one is on an outing, try to pick places that are less crowded.
