• Speak softly, move slowly, redirect the conversation if possible.
  • Try singing songs, reading to them or looking at old photos to distract them from what their agitated about.
  • Suggest a car ride to go get a treat.
  • If the weather permits, take a nice stroll around the neighborhood or near by park for some fresh air.
  • Most important, never argue with your loved one. Meet them in their reality.
